Lush, the homemade bath and body products company, uses organic ingredients whenever possible, and never tests on animals. Because of the anti-cruelty philosophy guiding Lush, its product range is limited to items that can be tested on humans - happy, eager humans - who rate the fresh, homemade soaps, shampoos, bath bombs and more. Lush also makes some terrific massage bars, all of which incorporate aromatherapy into the efficacy of their purposes. Be it to relax sore muscles, or energize tired bodies, each massage bar serves its purpose well.
Lush recommends using massage bars in place of massage oils; less messy than oil, the cocoa and shea butters melt on contact. The result is softened, scented skin, relaxed muscles, and a peaceful state of mind.
Lush Organic Massage Bars:
Wiccy Magic Muscles - Made with aduki beans just under the cocoa butter surface, this massage bar also has cinnamon leaf oil and peppermint oil to warm and relax sore muscles. The more the Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar is used, the closer the aduki beans come in contact with skin - making for a lovely, relaxing massage. Scent is primarily cinnamon.
It's a Pleasure Treasure - Besides cocoa butter, the Pleasure Treasure massage bar also has orange blossom honey, evening primrose oil, neroli oil, myrrh, and other organic ingredients. This one is heart shaped - although, through use, it melts into a kind of B-shaped blob. The Pleasure Treasure is a feminine-scented bar, and somewhat smaller than other Lush massage bars.
Soft Coeur - Also heart shaped, Soft Coeur is made with enough organic cocoa powder and honey to smell like a sweet dessert. A massage with Soft Coeur feels a lot better than a chocolate and toffee rub, however - it's one of the most popular Lush massage bars. Because the ingredients are natural and organic, it's okay to take a taste!
Amazonian - the Amazonian is a big massage bar; masculine, as well. Ylang ylang petal oil, patchouli oil, orchid and orange blossoms make for a heady, tropical scent. The Amazonian is also big enough to break into halves. The scent works like aromatherapy to calm the mind while sore muscles are massaged into relaxation.
Fever - Fever is one sexy massage bar. Lush isn't subtle here; the 3-D red lips on this massage bar really bring the point home, so to speak. Cocoa and shea butters soften skin during the massage, while organic jasmine absolute, musky sandalwood oil and gardenia extract add to the sexy allure of the scent. A massage with the Fever bar is stimulating, rather than relaxing.
Therapy - Okay, a home massage can't literally replicate the benefits of a professional massage by a licensed masseur. But the aromatherapy effects of the lavender and neroli oils make the Lush Therapy bar a great alternative. It's incredibly calming and relaxing. Because the four organic ingredients are two butters and two oils, Therapy massage bars melt more quickly than others.
Glitterbug - Recipients of a Glitterbug massage shouldn't crawl in bed right afterwards: The Glitterbug is packed with tiny iridescent bits of purple glitter, along with the butters, neroli oil, and vanilla absolute. This is a massage bar to glide over shoulders and across legs before a night out. Because of the glitter, this massage bar doesn't work well for serious massage needs; it's more of a skin softening, lightly scented sparkly treat.
Shimmy Shimmy - Heart shaped, with even smaller bits of glitter than the Glitterbug, the Shimmy Shimmy massage bar also contains organic vanilla, clary sage and lavender oils for its unique scent. As with the Glitterbug, the sparkles get everywhere, and make for a somewhat rough texture. The Shimmy Shimmy isn't effective at calming tense bodies.
Each Peach - This bar has a refreshing, energizing scent that helps do away with stress in massage recipients. Loaded with citrus scents including lime and grapefruit, it also works as a stimulating, pick-me-up massage.
